9-6-2022: another travel day (and result day for the girls!)
After we had left The Netherlands, we received word that the results of the exams would come earlier, because they'd added an extra exam option for those who couldn't take their exams because of COVID. This meant that the girls wouldn't get their results after we'd be back, but during their trip. So, if they'd passed they couldn't celebrate with their dad or their friends. And if they had to do a re-sit, we would have to return early. The ninth they would get their result, that's why we took the really early train, so that we would be in the next hotel by the time they could receive their call.
At 7 in the morning (UK time) the answers came online. Based on that, the hopes were high that they would get positive calls, but since it was based on their recollection on what they'd answered, so there was a slight chance of miscalculation.
Today we were happy with the early breakfast. We really enjoyed it and arrived at the station in time. We knew we had to transfer at least once. Again, they skipped the first stop (something to do with construction), so we had to pay proper attention again. We had to hurry, because we didn't have much time for the transfer, but we made it in time. Because we were sitting in the front of the train, we wouldn't have to transfer again. We arrived totally relaxed in Fort William. Online we'd read that the little town is absolutely boring, with little to recommend it. We thought is was charming. The hotel (a former prison!) was great and so was the restaurant we chose for an early dinner.
The waiting was slightly agonizing for the girls, but they both received positive calls, so we had a little private celebration.
Oh and these were the 'goodies' from the hotel (every guest gets this, so this wasn't especially for the girls).
