6-6-2022: Edinburgh

Our last full day in Edinburgh. We decided to sleep in, just because we can for a change. We do make sure to wake up on time for breakfast though! After breakfast we take the bus into town. A different line this time, because that will take us closer to our first destination: a couple of second hand bookstores. Gaia bought a beautiful 120-year-old sketch and Isis found a few books by Scottish authors that are usually hard to find (outside of Scotland), so they were both really happy.

On our way to our next destination, we came across a joint that sold "fried Mars bars". Trying one of those was on the wishlist of the girls, so we got one. It was....different. Not bad, but a savory fried layer with a partly melted mars bar on the inside is probably an acquired taste. We did not acquire that taste. We decided on calling it 'unusual' haha.

After that, we visited Greyfriars (a cemetery). The cemetary itself is impressive, the church is beautiful, but what impressed us most was the story of Bobby. You can read his story here. Nearby Greyfriars we took this photo of the castle:

After Greyfriars, we walked to New Town via Grasmarket. The vibe is completely different in New Town! We picnicked in a park there. We had a lovely view of the castle from the other side.

And then it was time for something we'd really been looking forward to: the Mercat Ghosts & Ghouls tour! The tour didn't disappoint, even though most of it was above ground. We really enjoyed the stories. We haven't seen any apparitions or had any uncomfortable sensations during the tour, but we do think a couple of American girls slept with one eye open after the tour hahaha.
