25-5-2022: The beginning of our trip

The exams were finished, the suitcases packed, so we could finally go on our way on the 25th of June 2022. We enjoyed our train ride and arrived in London shortly after 5 in the afternoon. Our hotel was really close to St. Pancras station. The room was really tiny, but it had 3 beds, a working toilet and shower and it was clean. So good enough for sleeping, the rest of the time we would be out & about anyway. 

In the evening we went out for dinner and ended up at a place called The Easton Flyer. The system in the pubs in the UK is somewhat different than what we're used to on mainland Europe. In the pubs you go to the bar to place your order. You may sit wherever you like, you just need to know your table number for the delivery of your food. Your drinks you get at the bar and you bring them to your table yourself. Everything is paid in advance. After you figure this out, it's a great system. My choice was 'pie of the day'. It was something I'd always wanted to try (an English pie), and it was a great choice. A good way to start our trip!
