2-6-2022: York

We started our day with a lovely breakfast in the B&B. Our hosts really spoiled us and took the time to chat with all their guests. It was interesting to talk to them about the Jubilee and what it meant for them and all the villages, towns and cities across the UK. Today we'd go to York and we were extremely happy we had first class seats, because the train was so full! Everyone and their friend 'had' to be somewhere else to attend the festivities with friends and loved ones. We were very grateful we had seats, but we also felt bad for those in 2nd class who had to stand for 2-3 hours with suitcases and everything because the train was so full.

Despite all this, we were treated almost like royalty again by the attendants. Just before we arrived we learned that we even could have asked for sandwiches! Something we kept in mind for the next trips we'd be taking. The cookies, crisps, tea, juice and sodas sustained us just fine though, so we didn't mind not knowing about this.

In York I got us some nice sandwiches before we walked to the hotel. The hotel is great and the room amazing! It was luxurious and spacious. There was even a nice round table with three chairs around it. So that's where we ate our sandwiches. Gaia was exhausted, so she stayed behind. Isis and I decided to walk into the old town. It is walled and you enter it through a honest to God gate.

York isn't exactly a flat city, some roads are pretty steep, so we had some serious training! The surroundings were beautiful, so it was worth it. We walked to The Shambles (an old, small street upon which Diagon Ally was based; we walked the set and we can tell you this is way more narrow!). Because it was nearing the closing time of the stores, it wasn't that busy any more, so that was great.

After a nice meal we went back to check on Gaia (I got her some food too, don't worry!). She had really enjoyed her 'me time', so everyone was happy.
